Black Silk Cape

A castle in the autumn mist
Unending trees by fall's lips kissed
Such magic could only exist
With me
Alone
In my black silk cape

Infinite halls of darkness deep
Where shadows lurk and secrets sleep
They whisper quiet lies so deep
And I'm
Alone
In my black silk cape

Unknown to them, behind a drape
I listen as their plan takes shape
A long-thought scheme of their escape
I feel
Alone
In my black silk cape

I hit my head, and with a groan
By clumsiness I am made known
One kind hand lifts me from the stone
I'm not
Alone
In my black silk cape

And from the looming fortress run
Five youths in capes, myself as one
We do not laugh, there is no fun
We are
Alone
In our black silk capes

Through crunching leaves, descend the hill
Escape is an ephemeral thrill
If we are caught, our hearts they'll still
Cold fear
Alone
In our black silk capes
